The Attack
On October 7, 2023, Hamas initiated a coordinated series of attacks on civilian communities and military sites in Israel. At dawn, more than 5,000 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, a tactic used by Hamas to create a diversion for border breaches.
The death toll surpassed 1,400, with over 3,300 injured and upwards of 240 people taken hostage. The assaults not only led to tragic loss of life but also to severe destruction of property, agricultural lands, and vital infrastructure.
Evacuation
The affected residents were compelled to evacuate their homes. They are currently being housed in temporary accommodations throughout Israel.
A comprehensive reconstruction plan is being designed. The timeline for rebuilding varies, with estimates ranging from 6 to 24 months.
Rebuild Together
To address both immediate and future needs, the Israeli Business Forum, together with the Rashi Foundation and other partners, has mobilized aid and has adopted the communities in their journey to rebuild.
Short-term efforts are focusing on securing more stable living arrangements, offering educational youth programs and sponsoring health and trauma support.
Long-term initiatives aim to restore essential community facilities, including agricultural structures, educational institutions and playgrounds.
